A mission of Orange United Methodist Church
In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.
Matthew 5:16
We had such an amazing weekend. We were able to take 24 people! The song you are listening to sums up the theme for the weekend. We learned about Legacy: Living a Part of God’s Greater Story. We discovered that we should not seek our own legacy, but rather become a part of God's legacy.
Our youth were amazing! We had several complements on how well our youth behaved and how they stood out among the crowd. We also had some of our youth step up and ask the blessing for 3 out of the 4 meals for the whole group. Moreover, we had an Orange representative (Brandon Sosebee) to win the Guitar Hero competition. The youth decided it would be good for me (Graham) to try to imitate the Kool Aid Man in front of everyone, and of course I complied with their wishes. Oh Yeah!
See the all the pictures we took through out the weekend here
We cannot let the girls think they are better than us by having all their girly nights. To combat all the pink fluffy lacy stuff we are going to have a man night. At this man night we plan on doing such manly things as play sports and cook over a camp fire. If you are a man or OUMC youth otherwise and want to particpate in this men only shindig please let Jon or Graham know so they can have enought manly food to go around.
Announcing a spelunking trip at Cumberland Caverns on April 19!!! This will be an overnight trip inside a cave. We will meet at Orange at 2pm on Saturday April 19. We will leave no later than 2:30. We will return to the church Sunday, April 20 around 12:30. We will actually be spending the night inside the cave. Don't worry, there are bathrooms. A sign up sheet will be made available this Sunday. The cost of $20 is due by Sunday, March 30.
While we are inside the cave we will explore the spelunking route which begins at the “Devil’s Quarry” and encounters such infamous places as the “Lemon Squeezer” and “Bubble Gum Alley.” We will encounter several tight squeezes and lots of crawling. Additionally, we will take a guided sightseeing tour of the fully lighted portions of Cumberland Caverns.
Also coming up this summer, we have a trip planned to Stone Mountain for Atlantafest June 20-21. Check out the details by clicking on Atlantafest!
